Sometimes love is messy in this romantic comedy where a unique cast of characters battle for love with heart-warming optimism. A darker cousin to Almost, Maine, John Cariani’s LOVE/SICK is a collection of nine slightly twisted and completely hilarious short plays. Set on a Friday night in an alternate suburban reality, this 80-minute romp explores the pain and the joy that comes with being in love. Full of imperfect lovers and dreamers, LOVE/SICK is an unromantic comedy for the romantic in everyone.

Please note Standard American accents are required.
This is a true ensemble production – each actor will play multiple roles, across different age ranges. We are looking for 4 – 8 actors within the age range of 25-45 years.
Each role will offer something different – the main thing we are looking for are actors who are comfortable with comedy and can show clear character differences. Interested actors must be comfortable with staged physical intimacy (this is a romantic comedy after all!).
Each short play has 2 different characters with no connection to any of the other vignettes other than in theme.
Details on the nine short plays in Love/Sick:
|Obsessive Compulsive||2 characters who fall in love at first sight (and kiss A LOT)|
|The Singing Telegram||A man delivers a singing telegram to an enthusiastic woman|
|What?!?||A guy who is surprised that he’s fallen in love and the sweet guy he’s in love with.|
|The Answer||A bride & groom|
|Uh-Oh||A woman with questions and her content husband of 1.5 years|
|Lunch & Dinner||A successful couple, married for 7 years|
|Forgot||A woman who wants more than she has and her husband of nine years who is happy with what he has.|
|Where was I?||A hard working stay-at-home mom and her hard working wife|
|Destiny||A recently divorced man meets a recently divorced woman.|
